DUNES XXVII by Kim McAninch

DUNES XXVII
48" x 60" oil on 1.75" Belgian linen
5/22/2015
The eye makes a way to the distant water through abstracted dunes and beach grass. My DUNES Series are created with palette knife and water soluble oil and this piece is painted on hand-stretched natural Belgian linen with heavy duty deep stretcher bars. It is an expressive and striking piece of art.  When beginning this particular piece, I wanted to depict the dunes in a very large format and show the expanse of the changing sky.   I have been exploring different sizes and orientation and expressing differing times of day. The 1.75" deep natural Belgian linen weave sides are left unpainted, leaving a clean and  finished appearance, therefore a frame is optional.  The piece is coated with archival varnish for protection. It arrives wired on the reverse side and hanging hardware is included for immediate display.
